Interfirst Mortgage Opens Strategic Hub In Charlotte To Expand Wholesale

Interfirst Mortgage Company (Interfirst and/or Company), a private equity-backed mortgage originator, is opening a strategic hub in Charlotte, North Carolina, and has hired industry veteran Casey Nunn as Vice President of National Sales Group. The office will serve as a second headquarters for the Company’s wholesale business.

In his new role, Mr. Nunn is focused on building a team of experienced Account Executives to support Interfirst’s wholesale business in the new Charlotte office. Mr. Nunn onboarded 20 new Account Executives in 2020 and is in the process of onboarding an additional 180-200 team members in 2021. Mr. Nunn will report to Mark Freedle, Executive Vice President, Production at Interfirst.

A U.S. military veteran, Mr. Nunn brings more than 18 years of experience in mortgage lending to his new role as Vice President of the National Sales Group. Previously Mr. Nunn served as Managing Director and Wholesale Partner Success, Site Leader at Home Point Financial, Divisional Vice President of National Sales and Account Executive at Quicken Loans and in Loan Agent/Consultant Roles at GMAC Mortgage and LSI Mortgage Plus.

“Casey’s leadership and industry experience will support our ability to rapidly onboard a team of seasoned Account Executives who still see the mortgage industry as a relationship-driven business,” commented Mark Freedle, Executive Vice President, Production. “Our broker-centric approach offers the technology, competitive products, pricing and service to help our broker partners build and grow successful and sustainable businesses. As we open our first major office outside of Chicago and continue to scale our wholesale business, it’s critical that we have a proven leader like Casey at the helm.”

“I’m excited to be joining Interfirst in this period of growth and having the opportunity to contribute to the Company’s overall mission of streamlining the customer experience,” said Mr. Nunn. “We are already off to a fast start and I look forward to building the team here in Charlotte to include a leading group of high-quality, experienced Account Executives. Charlotte’s strong talent pool of mortgage professionals makes it the ideal place to open a new hub and facilitate Interfirst’s next level of wholesale growth.”

The Charlotte region has seen continued growth in recent years, with the most recent U.S. Census data ranking the region as having the seventh-highest increase in the past year out of nearly 400 metro areas in the U.S. According to the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance, in 2019 there were 82,000 professionals in the finance and insurance industry in the area, positioning Charlotte as a key region for financial services talent.
