ATTOM released its May 2026 U.S. Foreclosure Market Report, which shows there were a total of 40,355 U.S. properties with foreclosure filings — default notices, scheduled auctions or bank repossessions — down 5 percent from a month ago and up 14 percent from a year ago.

ATTOM released its latest Vacant Property and Zombie Foreclosure Report showing that nearly 1.4 million homes, or 1.3 percent of residential properties in the United States, were vacant in the second quarter of the year. That was the same rate as the previous quarter and as the second quarter of 2025.

New data released from real estate data solutions provider Benutech reveals that between January 2025 and January 2026, the nation’s mortgage servicers filed more than 808,000 foreclosure-related documents, signaling a year of growing volatility for American families.

ATTOM released its first-quarter 2026 Vacant Property and Zombie Foreclosure Report showing that 1.33 percent of the residential properties in the United States, or nearly 1.4 million homes, were vacant at the beginning of the year. Foreclosure filings in 2025 were also down 87 percent from a peak of nearly 2.9 million in 2010.
